Almighty God, who created man in your image and destined him to share your Glory, we thank you for giving your Church the gift of Professor Jérome Lejeune, an exemplary Servant of Life.
He humbly placed his immense intelligence and deep faith at the service of the defense of human life, especially unborn life, always seeking to treat and to cure those in need. A passionate proponent of truth and charity, he bore eloquent witness before the contemporary world to the harmony between faith and reason.
Through his intercession, we pray that you grant the favours we ask, if it is your will, in the hope that the Church may one day proclaim him Saint.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
With ecclesiastical approval

Situation
Update February 15, 2025
Joseph has now been in the hospital for just over a month. His recovery from surgery for coarctation of the aorta has not been the easiest. He currently has significant chylothorax, a complication he was at increased risk for due to both having T21 and heart surgery, which has stalled his progress in recovery. We pray for the resolution of the chylothorax so that he can start feeding and make progress in healing.
Olivia is set to begin chemotherapy treatment this week. In the early days after Joseph’s birth, she was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma Her2+ cancer in the breast and lymph nodes on the left side.
Despite the medical challenges and the less than ideal news, the MacDougalls have felt the Providence of God through the support of the community expressed in prayer, financial aid, acts of service, and words of encouragement. There have been many small favours obtained throughout the journey so far which they believe is a demonstration of Venerable Dr. Jerome Lejeune’s nearness to them as they go through these hardships.
Presently, they are waiting with hope to receive a relic of Venerable Jerome Lejeune’s to pray with.

Joseph has a prenatal diagnosis of Down Syndrome (95% chance through prenatal screening NIPTs testing) and he also has two heart defects, one of which requires surgery within 2-5 days of birth. For the surgery to go ahead, the baby needs to be stable and at least 2-2.5kg in weight. The outcomes from both heart surgeries tend to be positive with less than 2% chance of mortality.
The plan has been to have baby remain in utero up to 39 weeks (end of January 2025) in order to give more time to grow as babies with Down Syndrome tend towards the lower range for growth percentile.
This timeline may now be affected due to the recent discovery of a large mass in the breast tissue of Olivia which requires surgery regardless of the outcome of the biopsy. The current report states that there is 95% chance of the biopsy showing cells to be malignant.
Mike and Olivia have a young family. Joseph is their fifth child. We kindly request your prayers for this family as they navigate these health challenges.
Well, what’s left is Wisdom … an eternal Wisdom … the kind that men did not invent. And this Wisdom is summed up in one sentence that explains everything, that answers everything, that tells everyone at every moment what they should do or not do. This sentence is very simple, it has been taught by the Master of all of us: “What you did for the least of my brethren, you have done for me.“
